KCA University has kicked off the 2nd VC and CEO Cycling Tour, an annual resource mobilization event aimed at supporting talented and needy students as well as funding social impact projects and initiatives.
Prof. Isaiah Wakindiki, the VC and CEO yesterday led a peloton of 13 cyclists to cover 1000 kilometers to the scenic Western Kenya circuit, spanning Nairobi, Nakuru, Kapsabet, Kakamega, Kisumu, Kisii, Narok and back.
The tour aims to raise Sh 15 million to fund scholarship opportunities and establish a centre for Road Safety Awareness and Traffic Injury Surveillance.
Speaking during the flag off event, Wakindiki stated that the varsity is committed to the SDG 4 which champions for inclusivity and equitable quality education and promotion of lifelong learning for all.
“KCA University is committed to the SDG 4 which champions inclusivity and equitable quality education and promotion of lifelong learning for all. Education is an enabler that opens doors to limitless possibilities,” stated Wakindiki.
Through facilitating access to quality education, the varsity seeks to break the barrier that hinders individual progress and impacts the overall skill development of our learners.
The varsity is partnering with the Technical University of Dortmund in Germany to set up the Centre for Road Safety Awareness and Traffic Injury Surveillance, which seeks to facilitate the reduction of road carnages in Kenya through research, innovation and knowledge creation.

It is also collaborating with the road agencies in Kenya such as the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to streamline the collection and analysis of road carnage data because this is pivotal in getting to the root causes and ultimately developing solutions through education, advocacy and policy-making.
The tour is also sensitizing members of the public to safe road usage for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians as well as advocating for a healthy lifestyle.
