The Laikipia University Alumni Association has expressed concern over the ongoing strike that has disrupted learning in institutions across the country, calling for urgent dialogue to end the standoff.

The association acknowledged the right of education professionals to push for improved welfare but emphasized that prolonged industrial action continues to harm students, parents, and the overall quality of education.

“Education is the cornerstone of national development. We call upon the Ministry of Education and relevant stakeholders to prioritize negotiations that restore learning and safeguard the interests of both educators and students,” said Jesse Ndegwa, Chairman of the Laikipia University Alumni Association.

Ndegwa noted that the continued disruption has delayed students’ academic progress, extended study periods, and placed additional financial pressure on parents already grappling with a challenging economy.

The alumni body urged all parties to embrace constructive dialogue and pursue lasting solutions that balance teachers’ welfare with the right of learners to uninterrupted education.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen the education system and promote collaboration among stakeholders to ensure stability in the sector.
