For the second year in a row, Mount Kenya University (MKU) emerged the best overall university during the just concluded Kenya National drama festival 2025.
The university under the stewardship of Vice-Chancellor- Prof. Deogratius Jaganyi won in most categories among them the cultural creative dance, stand-up comedy, solo dance, best documentary on Equity Bank, screen narrative, winning narrative and screen choral verse.
The varsity at the same time scooped awards in the 2nd best documentary on Equity Bank, 2nd best advert on Equity Bank, 2nd best feature film, 3rd best advert on Equity Bank, 3rd position spoken word and 3rd position play.
According to Jaganyi, the varsity is committed to nurturing and developing talents which he said is crucial for individual growth, societal advancement, and organizational success.
Jaganyi who led a delegation of university management to watch and provide advice to the university drama team encouraged the students to keep living their talent dreams as they push their academic excellence journey.
“As the person in charge of this group, I am very proud of what the young talents have achieved, the joy and pride is to see them celebrating their hard-earned work. As an office, we will keep supporting them,” William Luta, the lead person who escorted the team stated.
Over 20 Universities participated, among them Kenyatta University, University of Nairobi, University of Embu, Meru University, Zetech University, Kabarak University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) among many others.
