The body of Bishop Francis Mugweru, 62, of Joy Springs Soul-winning Worship Centre in Juja, Kiambu County will be laid to rest tomorrow at the church’s compound.

The man of the cloth whose mutilated body was found 300 meters from his Kiganjo- Thika, home on Friday last week, eloped with a married woman in August 2019, and it is alleged that he was accosted by unknown men on Thursday night and assaulted to death

Reverend Lincoln Mwaniki, a pastor with the church confirmed on phone that the burial ceremony will happen tomorrow in Juja.

He made the revelations amid reports of a tug of war between the bishop’s two wives over where he should be buried.

One of the wives is said to have ordered her husband’s body to be interred at the church compound while the rest insisted that the burial should happen at their home in Juja farm.

Until the time of going to press, it was not yet established where the infamous bishop’s body will be interred.

Following his death, detectives in Thika who are handling the matter have managed to arrest three persons in connection to his heinous murder.

According to Kiambu County Police Commander Ali Nuno who confirmed the arrest, the three, one being a close family member have already appeared in court and charged with murder.

He revealed that the bishop’s family has been embroiled in a longstanding tussle that resulted in a ‘3-dimensioned saga’.

Mugweru shocked faithful and residents alike when he took off with the wife and five children of Kanyua, a church member he supported spiritually during his youth—and even officiated their marriage.

The cleric, who separated with Wangivi in 2013 after she allegedly threatened to kill him, said he is now a happy man, adding his former wife with whom he has three adult children, some of whom have married, is an “infidel”.

He accused Wangivi of selling their vehicle and several cows, and using the proceeds to allegedly further her extramarital escapades.
