Subukia’s history was written afresh after President Uhuru’s visit at the Prestigious Marian Shrine for the marking of commencement of Latent for the Catholic faithfuls. It is the second time Subukia hosted him in a time less than a month something that has never happened in history – (that’s a sitting president lands at Subukia twice in a month and it’s not electioneering period.)
However, what perturbs Mwananchi is that in his first visit this year on January 28th 2020, the president never launched nor promised anything (it’s not a custom for a sitting president on his visits anywhere) although on the same day in a similar entourage the president promised to stage a comeback in Bahati Constituency to commission tarmacking of a certain road championed by the area MCA on that day.
Back home, for the two visits from the Head of State, NOTHING at all comes home.
The president in a scathing statement has declared that he will be visiting mashinani personally to commission and check the proceeding of developmental projects after what he claims were hoondwinks from those he had loyalty to on the same.
Nonetheless, the recent unfolding unravels weaknesses in Subukia top bras when it comes to championing and prioritizing developmental projects.
Down memory lane, during the Nelson Gaichuhie’s epoch,(The predecessor of the current regime) President Uhuru Marian Shrine for a similar intent and promised the tarmac of Subukia Town- Shrine road, during another visit he promised the tarmac of D366 which is ongoing.
The big question is, what are we reaping from these presidential visits? Word has it that our MP hon. Samuel Gachobe is CLUELESS on what to prioritize and at the same time CLAWLESS when it comes to haggling development for his constituents.
All isn’t well, Subukia constituency is under-connected to electricity, economic growth is slagging, poor and impassable road is the order save for the ongoing D366, high levels of unemployment and lack of conducive environment for business growth has catalyzed insecurity around, 100% transition from Primary to Secondary school has been a nightmare, there’s no a 21st Century technical facility to arm the youth with hands-on skills and the one that exists is on its shambles, drug abuse is on the rise, these among other shortcoming pokes holes on Samuel Gachobe’s leadership thus legacy.
It’s high time the MP be cunning and opportunistic from these presidential visits, he should roll his sleeves and get the ground running for the welfare of commoners.
Nothing is much fulfilling more than positive implication to someone’s life, it feels good to oneself. Socio-economic development and nothing else is what our souls cry for. Our MP should live up to this. He has scores to make and we’re counting. It’s a matter of time.
