Selecting the right university is a critical decision that lays the foundation of a career path, Zetech University Vice Chancellor Prof Njenga Munene has told students.

Munene says that this in turn sets the pace for the achievement of career goals and the level of satisfaction in the world of work.

The VC notes that students should select an institution of higher learning where knowledge is nurtured, dreams take flights to reality, skills are honed, and passions are turned to purpose.

Prof Munene who spoke at the University’s Ruiru Campus while addressing the May 2023 intake students said that students should endeavor to join Universities that have been ISO-certified for quality and world-class training noting that Zetech ISO 9001:2015 certified.

“This standard in the educational field evaluates and certifies all processes related to teaching and student learning in order to guarantee the quality of the educational institutions,” he said.

He said that the University has a holistic approach to quality assurance, covering all the processes in the institution, in order to serve, to create and maintain customer satisfaction by understanding the customer’s preferences and needs.

 “Our directorate of quality assurance conducts surveys and evaluations every semester to receive feedback from our students on the standards levels of our service delivery,” he said.

Prof Munene averred that the institution has reaped multiple benefits from the ISO certification, including enhanced customer satisfaction and culture development. 

 “We are committed to ensure compliance with the ISO 9001:2015 standards and other internal and external regulatory requirements. The ISO Certification allows the growth and quality of education to spread fully across the whole university, so that it becomes embedded within all the systems and processes that are used across all campuses, schools and within all offices whether within the country or outside the country,” he said.

He noted that Zetech is an accredited Open, Diastance and E-Learning (ODEL) institution adding that the certification has been key in an increasingly competitive environment being experienced in Kenya and globally.

“Given the ever-increasing competition among universities in the world today, the ISO 9001 Certified institutions are able to compete strongly in the face of this competition. This enables the University to standout, to have a higher international rating, and to attract more reputable stakeholders, both students and partners,” he noted.

The University deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Alice Njuguna called on students to integrate theory and practical skills so as to have a cutting-edge advantage in the job markets once they complete their studies.

“From mandatory training on employability, entrepreneurship, and ICT to regular industry visits and immersion programs; students gain invaluable exposure to real-world practices and build essential networks with industry professionals,” she said.

She divulged that the University takes pride in its strong linkages and collaborations with industry experts which provide opportunities for internships, industrial placements, and mentorship programs.

She also reiterated that the ISO certification has boosted the University’s mission of providing world-class education, research and innovation for global transformation and sustainable development’ shaped by its vision of being ‘a global hub of excellence in education, research and innovation.

 “With this certification, we have squarely putting the university in the world map in terms of quality academic programmes and graduating of students with international quality standards,”

 She quipped that the ISO certificate, which entails the development of a management system, is dedicated to enabling the university to attain its set objectives.

 “It is central to enabling Zetech to meet its quality systems and improvement of service delivery led by leadership,”
