Zetech University has entered an agreement with the University of Juba that will see the two institutions collaborate in research and teaching activities.
In a new pact signed by Zetech VC Prof. Njenga Munene and his University of Juba counterpart Prof. John Akec alongside Prof. Milton Lado, the two institutions will offer joint Hospitality and Tourism Programs at all levels.
In the deal, the two varsities will exchange academic materials and publications, facilitate attachment of staff for purposes of curriculum development and review, upgrading of Teaching and research skills besides participating in seminars, symposiums, and other types of academic discussions.
According to Prof. Munene, a specific plan will be worked out for each activity; detailing arrangements for collaboration conditions for each such exchange, including those concerning salary, travel funding, health insurance, and housing will be worked out between the institutes.
“We are committed to changing the landscape of education in the world with a mission to provide holistic higher education through promoting excellence in research, integrating innovation and technology in learning, and developing well-rounded citizens to impact the social, political and economic world. This is solely one of the reasons we have partnered with the University of Juba which is a leading educational centre of excellence that is committed to national economic empowerment and social transformation,” he said.
The pact, he said will further spur diplomatic relations between Kenya and Sudan that will facilitate exploration of even further areas of collaboration besides academia.
“In our agreement, we hope to have exchanged students selected by mutual agreement between the home institution and the host institution and these students will continue to be treated as a full-time student at their home institution. We hope to collaborate and engage jointly in research including grant proposal writing, and research publishing,” noted Prof. Akec.
