Judicial Service Commission has selected Court of Appeal judge Philomena Mbete Mwilu to be the next Deputy Chief Justice of Kenya.
The revelation was made today. Mwilu outsmarted fourteen other candidates for the nomination.
Mwilu who spoke during her interview with the JSC revealed that she muscularly backs polygamy marriages.
Mwilu was quoted as saying that as long as there was peace in the home, she has no problems with polygamy.
‘I wouldn’t want to police anyone on marriage. Anyone who gets into such a union is ready to share a man. I don’t see a conflict in law, it just gives options on if you want to be in a monogamous or polygamous arrangement,’ Mwilu said.
The Marriage Act 2014 allows men to take on many wives without consulting their current spouse/s.
The Bill was supported by a large number of male Members of Parliament, and its endorsement made many female MPs walk out in gripe.
