In yet another win, Mount Kenya University teams dominated at the Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) scooping four awards.

The university took home the private university, best host, most punctual and 1st runners up overall winners’ awards in the competitions that saw participants compete in the over 20 sports discipline.

Kenyatta University emerged the overall winners, winning the best public University award while Jomo Kenyatta University finished 2nd runners up best university overall.

The Nairobi North Universities league commenced in September 2024 and will be ending officially the weekend of 22nd and 23rd of March 2025.

The colorful awards ceremony was graced by Mount Kenya University Principal student welfare division Mr. Peter Waweru who encouraged students to uphold integrity and ensure they field eligible students as per the KUSF eligibility regulations.

He reminded the players to be keen on their mental capacity and to seriously take care of their mental capacity.

“I also encourage the Nairobi North conference officials to plan and implement capacity building and training forums on matters of mental health to players, coaches’ officials and University members of staff in the sports departments,” stated Waweru.

The University sports, film and creative arts coordinator Mr. William Luta, reminisced how the long season has been very competitive but a success.

“The success you see today is solely out of sheer determination, persistence, perseverance, dedication and discipline from the students. As Mount Kenya University we are happy with the results and must commend the management for the big support in facilitating the sporting department with all the necessary needs to ensure the teams and students are good to go,” stated Luta.

“The coaches, captains and players in general have done a great job, you can see it all in their faces as they embrace the many trophies they have won,” he added.

Luta who is also the Secretary general KUSF Nairobi North conference enumerated the plans the conference has towards taking the conference activities to higher heights.

“We are looking forward to partnering with progressive local and international sporting organizations that will expose our players to better sporting forums,” he revealed.

The university teams retreated back to prepare for the Kenya universities sports federation national championship scheduled for 28th to 30th March 2025 at Kenyatta University.
